The America Cup is a catch & release, fly fishing tournament with 70 International, US, Youth and Adaptive anglers competing on the best trout waters in Colorado. Headquarters, Festivities and Awards Banquet in Vail, CO are open to everyone. Join this event as a Volunteer/Controller and go riverside with a world class fisherman. Tred Barta is an American hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, who hosts The Best and Worst of Tred Barta. As a fisherman, Barta has amassed several world records and now days fishes only a 1 weight for trophy trout on 6x!

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing & The America Cup

Soldier's Day 2012

Thank you to everyone that attended today's Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing 'Soldier's Day" with The America Cup. A great time was had by all. Many thanks to Nova Guides, Tred Barta, Maui Jim, Vail Valley Anglers, Fly Fishing Outfitters, Minturn Anglers, Team USA, Nu Cast, and the many guides that supported the soldiers!

SOLDIER'S DAY - GREAT TIME FOR ALL THAT ATTENDED!

Thank you to everyone that attended the Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing 'Soldier's Day" with The America Cup on Sept 16, 2012. The day began with the soldiers pairing up with competitors and volunteers from the tournament.  The group went to the Eagle River and focused on river techniques and refining their skills. Fish were caught and a lunch was then served back at the Nova Guides lodge. The afternoon was filled with still water techniques on the Nova pond while enjoying a beautiful Fall day with changing colors all around.  The soldiers all became better anglers while enjoying new friendships.

Thank you to Nova Guides for providing a beautiful venue.  The Pando Cabins were wonderful and warm. McAllister's Grill served up three excellent meals for the solders and guides.  The transportation to the Eagle River was comfortable, and the lodge made for a cozy destination at Camp Hale.  The staff was professional and accommodating to all the attendees and the pond produced plenty of rainbow and brown trout.

Loch Style Day - Loch Style Tournament

June 17th - Sunday
The America Cup is hosting a 1 day loch event along with the Town of Avon's fishing derby
7am-8am Boat inspection and lake put in
8am Competitor and Controller meeting and venue review - shore fisherman awareness
9am-12pm Session 1 - 5 boats fishing for 3 hours, 10 min row out, horn blast start and end
12pm-1pm Lunch and boat changes
1pm-4pm Session 2 - 5 boats fishing for 3 hours, 10 min row out, horn blast start and end
4:30pm Loch Tourney results announced

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing

September 15th - Saturday
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing soldiers and staff arrive for a late dinner and stay in the Pando cabins.

September 16th - Sunday
8:00am - 7:00pm Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing
Nova Guides lodge at Camp Hale for River and Still Water Techniques
Soldiers and Donors will fish the Eagle River and Nova Guides private ponds
Guides wll be competitors from the 2012 America Cup.
Goal: To increase the skill set to put trout in the net through progressive fly fishing methods.

8:00am - Soldiers will meet at Nova Guides lodge at Camp Hale. There will be an introduction to the Camp Hale historical area and program agenda review. Soldiers will meet their guide and supporter and go over tackle and fly fishing style.
9:00am - Transportation for River Techniques with guide and supporter along the Eagle River.
1:00pm - Lunch at McAllister's Grill at Camp Hale and group pictures.
2:00pm - Still Water Techniques with guide and supporter on Longbow Pond at Nova Guides.
5:00pm - Break time to clean up for dinner.
6:00pm - Dinner Buffet served for all participants - Day ending comments, pictures, and gift presentation.
7:00pm - Open Pond Fishing and soldiers will stay over night in the Pando Cabins at Nova Guides.

River and Loch Style Classes

September 17, 2012 Monday - Master Loch Style Class - Irishmen Michael Drinan and Thomas Drinan will be teaching a Loch Style fly fishing method class. Anglers taking class must bring their own gear and waders. Class is from 8am to 3pm.
Class will start at the Nova Guides lodge at Camp Hale, lunch will be provided.

September 18, 2012 Tuesday - Master River Class - Marek Walczek of Poland and Sandro Soldarini of Italy will be teaching a Master River class on the latest European methods. Anglers taking class must bring their own gear and waders. Class is from 8am to 3pm. Class will start at the Nova Guides lodge at Camp Hale, lunch will be provided.

Cost is $250.00 per angler, per class. Limited availability.
