A GREAT FIRST YEAR FOR THE AMERICA CUP

“As I sat on the side of the stream watching one of the best fishermen in the
world, two thoughts hit me; Fishing is such a great way to enjoy the outdoors
and how much I still have to learn. We can’t wait for year two of the America
Cup to makes its way back up stream to the Town of Frisco.”
Tim Bock - Town of Frisco, Director of Marketing

“Our youth TEAM USA members were quite impressed with the challenges
and the quality of the competition. It certainly was an impressive opportunity
for them to compete against fl y anglers of all ages from all over the world. The
caliber of the anglers who compete in the America Cup makes it one of the
finest competitions available to competitive fly fishing enthusiasts.”
John Ford - President, US Youth Fly Fishing Team

“The America Cup was a terrific event and great step forward for competitive
fly fishing in the United States. You guys worked as hard as we could ask
for in running the event – thanks! I still receive contacts from people who
participated, volunteered, and watched during the competitions.”
Jim Hickey - WorldCast Anglers

“An awesome event with so much opportunity to learn and exchange fly fishing
tips and stories with all the international participants.”
J. Kyle Bodhaine - President, Reid & Associates

“A great opportunity to meet fishing buddies from around the world.”
Tracey Bodhaine – 2008 Competitor

"Winning The America Cup to me was the best feelings in my life.
Battling it out with some of the best in the world was a grand opportunity.
This isn’t the only thing that brought me back this year.
The friends that I've made during this championship and memories will never leave me.
The beautiful State of Colorado and of course some of the best fishing venues that I ever tested.
All in All it has to be the most enjoyable competition I’ve ever taken part in."

A COMPETITION FOR THE AGES

September 8th-12th, 2008

"As the mayor of the Town of Frisco, I would like to personally invite you to take part in the America Cup International Tournament.  The Town of Frisco is proud to be hosting this prestigious event September 8 - 12, 2008."
 (Bernie Zurbriggen, Mayor of Frisco)

"Our competition, in conjunction with the Town of Frisco, will be hosting various international teams, a Colorado women’s team, and a Junior team this year.  I would like to invite anyone interested in our sport to come and watch competitors on the water.  Come see the latest flies from Japan, see how they set up a line in Australia, or experience some Irish whit.  Even better, become a controller and spend a few days on the water with one of your favorite competitors!
Thank you to all of our sponsors, especially for helping to create ‘The America Cup Scholarship Fund’ for our Juniors.  Anyone wanting to support the ‘TAC Scholarship Fund’, or the Cup itself, please contact me directly at dpehle@theamericacup.com ."
(Mr. David Pehle, Executive Director for ‘The America Cup’)

"An opportunity to participate along side some of the world's most elite fly fisherman is an experience no one should miss. These are the true masters of the sport and everyone involved will have the chance to interact with these fine gentlemen. My hopes are that this event will spotlight the nature of competitive fly fishing and how community involvement can create a spectacular international fly fishing tournament, that reoccurs every year. "
(John Knight, Chairman ‘The America Cup’)

“It’s an exciting time in fly fishing!  Team USA in encouraged by the level of generosity the sport is receiving from new partnerships such as the Town of Frisco, Copper Mountain Resort and many in the industry.”
(Team USA Captain, Anthony Naranja)
